The 19th arrondissement remains a hidden gem among Paris neighborhoods. Because of its unusual architecture and historically undesirable reputation, most people tend to explore other options before living in the 19th. 

For many newcomers to Paris, living in the 18th arrondissement on the world-famous Montmartre hill is a dream come true. The combination of quintessential cobbled streets, art history, and extraordinary views are really unlike anywhere else in the world. 

The 17th arrondissement is quickly becoming one of the most popular areas to live in Paris. It offers a balanced lifestyle, with village-like neighborhoods, excellent dining, and a little elegance, while still largely affordable. 

Along with the 7th arrondissement, the 16th is among the most prestigious and classy neighborhoods in Paris. Its grand avenues and clean streets are in sharp contrast to some of the more hectic and noisy parts of the inner city. 

A laid back, gentle lifestyle and a major metropolitan capital like Paris seem like polar opposites. But if (relative) peace and easy living are what you’re looking for in Paris, the 15th is a great place to start. 

If you haven’t lived or spent significant time in Paris before, you’ve probably never been to the 13th arrondissement. Even the most seasoned Paris visitors would have little reason to spend the day here.

The 12th arrondissement isn’t one of those Paris neighborhoods that most people rave about. At least, not from afar. But spend a little time here, and you’ll quickly see that there’s a lot to love.

10 short years ago, the 11th arrondissement was barely on the map for tourists or expats living in Paris. It had a few streets known for bars and parties, and some visitors would head to Place de la Bastille for its revolutionary history.
