What to do in the 11th arrondissement?

  • Edith Piaf Museum

The Museum is in the 11th arrondissement in Edith Piaf’s own apartment. Bernard Marchois, a big fan of Edith Piaf, was still a young student when he first met her in 1958. He sometimes attended Edith’s rehearsals at 67 Boulevard Lannes. In 1967, he set up the association “The Friends of Edith Piaf”, and ten years later opened a private museum dedicated to his idol. Many objects belonging to Edith Piaf are kept here (one of her famous black dresses, the cuddly toys given to her by her last husband, her size 34 stage shoes…).

Left Bank or Right Bank: The Eternal Question

Discover Paris Tenant

Right Bank or Left Bank? This age-old rivalry gets Parisians fired up and has tourists wondering. Why the difference? Which one is better than the other? We’ll decode this “squabble”, that always mobilizes Paris, for you.

Right Bank, the Fun Side

The Right Bank is located north of the Seine, and includes 14 of Paris’ arrondissements. The history of the Right Bank dates back to the Middle Ages. It was the first of two banks to develop, particularly through trade. That’s why it has retained, to this day, its commercial side particularly with the Halles district and its business side with the district around the Opera house. Until the French Revolution, it was called “Outre-(other side of the) Grand-Pont” in keeping with the “Grand-Pont“, (today’s Pont Notre-Dame) which , for many years, was the only way to get from the Ile de la Cité (very popular with tourists) to the Right Bank.

A visit in the 10th Arrondissement

Discover Paris

The 10th arrondissement is lucky to have such a strategic location in Paris: between the Grands Boulevards and Place de la République, not far from the Bastille and Belleville districts. This rather central arrondissement provides convenient access to many of the major places in the capital in just a short metro ride.

What to do in the 10th arrondissement ?

There are not a lot of monuments to visit in the 10th arrondissement of Paris. It is rather a place where people like go out, take walks, etc. However, you will notice two small triumphal arches, which are the remains of the former gates of Paris: Porte Saint-Denis and Porte Saint-Martin (near the 3rd arrondissement).
If you are lucky enough to have nice weather, a cruise along Saint Martin Canal is a must! It’s always great to find and take a breath of fresh air in the city. At night, groups of friends meet here for a “potluck” aperitif between rounds of pétanque. You will especially enjoy the beautiful view of sunset from the Quai de Valmy or Quai de Jemmapes.
